Research Assistant: Part-time (15 hours per week; 3 week days TBA 7am-noon). We are seeking a person to employee part-time in a Research Assistant position to assist Dr. Michael Copenhaver’s research team in conducting a NIH-funded randomized controlled trial of a secondary HIV prevention program at the APT Foundation drug treatment program in New Haven, CT.  This person will serve a range of functions including, but not limited to assisting with HIV prevention group sessions, recruiting/screening/assessing study participants, conducting HIV prevention skills sessions with participants, entering and monitoring study data using the ACASI system and SPSS, assist with data quality control, entering data as needed in the NIH clinical trials website, collecting weekly urine toxicology samples and dried blood spot samples, and weekly check-ins with participants, participating in clinical supervision as needed, and assisting with progress reports, IRB renewals and other routine study activities as needed based on the needs of the study.

Professional Requirements:  The person would preferably have a certification or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field, and previous experience working in drug treatment settings. In addition, the person must be comfortable conducting HIV risk reduction skills sessions (including condom application and needle cleaning) and discussing HIV prevention related challenges with study participants. In addition, the person must be able to work at least 3 weekday mornings from 7am-noon at the APT/Welch Building, 495 Congress Avenue, New Haven, CT.  The position may be renewed July 1, 2022 depending on the availability of research grant funds.

Residential Clinician-RSD:  Full time 37.5 hours + benefits.  Schedule Determined by Program Need.  Provide group and individual counseling to patients receiving opiate replacement therapy in our DOC program, through a comprehensive, recovery oriented and trauma informed treatment process.

Professional Requirements:  Master’s Degree + licensed by the state of CT (LPC, LADC, LCSW, LMFT.  Licensed individuals preferred but will consider an individual who is within 18 months of receiving a license.  Must pass all Department of Corrections policies, requirements and background checks. Must have strong working relationships with community providers.  Must have valid CT Driver’s license. Attendance is punctual and reliable, and necessary absences must be planned in advance.  In addition, the ideal candidate must be willing to work in a high stress environment, must be able to manage multiple competing tasks, and demonstrate competency as a collaborative team member.

Housekeeper:  Full time 37.5 hours per week + benefits.   Under the general supervision of the Housekeeping Coordinator, the Housekeeper will clean, maintain and improve the common areas, staff offices, bathrooms, and other areas as directed.  This position will also clean and maintain other areas of the facility as requested.  Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Professional Requirements: High school diploma or GED.  Must have valid CT Driver’s license and reliable transportation. Bilingual preferred.

Job Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the AVS Manager, works as part of the clinical team to provide non-traditional vocational rehabilitation to clients. Establishes initial contacts with the business community to develop employment slots for clients; Maintain favorable relationships with employers in the community, labor organizations, and the CT State Employment Service;  Will perform job analysis and consultations to community employers to identify and eliminate barriers to employment of people with disabilities; Provides orientation and vocational assessment of clients requesting services at the vocational component.; Assists individuals to understand and overcome social, economic and/or emotional problems that pose a barrier to employment; Provides vocational counseling to clients on a one-to-one or group basis and develops Individual Employment plans; Administers interest testing and utilizes other instruments to assist in determining appropriate career goals; Facilitates pre-vocational and job seeking skills groups on and off site; Makes appropriate referrals for housing, transportation, childcare, clothing, substance abuse or mental health treatment services; Provides necessary monitoring for clients placed at the worksite; Works closely with clients and transports them when necessary to assist with securing employment; Prepare resumes and cover letters for job ready clients; paperwork completed accurately and in a timely basis;  Other duties as assigned.

Professional Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human service field preferred. 2 years’ experience working within the Mental Health/Substance Use field.  Must have valid CT Driver’s License. Willing to travel to all APT locations.  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Staff Psychiatrist – General Purpose:   Under the general direction and supervision of the APT Medical Director, is responsible for the psychiatric care, including care for substance use disorders of patients at the APT Foundation.  Provides direct services and clinical supervision and performs related administrative duties.  Provides scheduled periodic-on call consultation for after-hours calls and psychiatric emergencies and arranges care as appropriate and on-call consultation for MOUD dispensing and admissions. Is responsible for appropriate documentation of all medical/psychiatric services in accordance with agency policy and procedures.

Professional Requirements:  M.D. degree and Connecticut license; minimum of 5 years as MD.  Must have Addiction Psychiatry training. Experience in providing medical education preferred. Must possess DEA License and waiver.

Staff Nurse (LPN) for Residential Program-  Full time 37.5 hours per week; benefit eligible.  Schedule will be determined by Residential Services Division needs. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, the Staff Nurse serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing services to patients in the Residential Program.

Professional Requirements: The ideal candidate must possess current and valid licensure as an LPN and have a valid CT Drivers’ License. Prior experience in the mental health and/or substance abuse field preferred.

Clinic Safety Staff: Full Time, 36 hours: 4 (9 hour) days + benefits. Schedule determined by clinic needs–will include early mornings and Saturdays. The safety staff monitors program area and grounds to ensure safety of all staff and patients during medicating hours. Assists clinic staff in managing crowds in the lobby and medicating areas during high volume periods. Provides backup assistance to staff and patients. Must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Professional Requirements: Minimum 1 year experience in security position with valid CT Guard Card preferred, or equivalent work experience. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Project Coordinator: Full time 37.5 hours per week + benefits. Schedule determined by project need. Primary foci: to interact and communicate with both internal and external contacts on a variety of projects; to coordinate the activities of the multidisciplinary team; to monitor timely completion of all project milestones and recruitment goals; to organize and analyze data for reports, presentations and publications, to write relevant reports, including but not limited to progress reports, grant renewals, letters of collaboration, memoranda of agreement, and other matters as directed.

Professional Requirements: Master’s level preferred.  4-5 years relevant experience, including experience overseeing a multi-site program.  Extensive research, organizational, budget and management skills.  Superb interpersonal, writing and communication skills.  The Project Coordinator will work under the general supervision of the CEO or her designee.

Maintenance Worker 1: Full time 37.5 hours per week + benefits. Duties include but are not limited to the following: general repairs such as painting, patching walls, hanging shelves and landscaping; moving and arranging office equipment such as desks, file cabinets, and other office supplies; inspecting the assigned building daily for adequate heat, lighting and ventilation to confirm that these systems are working properly and are properly cleaned; performing janitorial tasks as required; supervising the receipt and shipment of various materials and/or equipment; other tasks as assigned. Must be available for after-hours emergencies and possible on call hours as needed.

Professional Requirements: Must have High School diploma or equivalent and valid CT Driver’s License. General knowledge of facilities maintenance needed. Trade license and/or certification in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC helpful.

Staff Nurse (LPN) Position – Central Medical Unit: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week + benefits.  Schedule determined by clinic needs. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, the Staff Nurse serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing services to patients in the Central Medical Unit. Must have blood draw experience and be Phlebotomy certified.

Professional Requirements: The ideal candidate must possess current and valid licensure as an LPN and Phlebotomy certification. Prior experience in the mental health and/or substance abuse field preferred.

Staff Nurse Position – Outpatient Setting / Outpatient and Department of Corrections (DOC): Full Time, 37.5 hours per week + benefits. Schedule determined by clinic needs. Will include some weekends. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor, the Staff Nurse serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing services to DOC patients receiving Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). Attendance is punctual and reliable, and necessary absences must be planned in advance. In addition, the ideal candidate must be willing to work in a high stress environment, must be able to manage multiple competing tasks, and demonstrate competency as a collaborative team member.

Professional Requirements:  The ideal candidate must possess current and valid licensure as an RN. Experienced LPN will be considered with a minimum of 3 years in mental health and/or substance misuse necessary. Must have a valid CT Driver’s License. Must be ready to work as part of our DOC team, including eligibility for all DOC requirements including passing their background check.

Patient Care Associate (PCA) Positions – Residential Setting: Full time 37.5 hours per week + benefits. 2nd shift schedule, 3-11 including weekends. Under the general supervision of the Program Director and Residential Coordinator, this is a front line position maintaining appropriate patient traffic flow within the residential setting, including but not limited to: greeting and checking in all patients, providing appropriate diagnostic tests as required by staff, and entering data into APT’s patient clinical management system. Must be comfortable administering urinalysis tests.

Professional Requirements: Associates Degree or 2 years post-secondary education, or equivalent combination of training and education.
